Venue: Pioneer Place on Fifth
Jeff Engholm's 2000 solo release, Summit Climb, was project that launched Collective Unconscious. The first tracks were recorded during an overnight shift at radio station KLTF in Little Falls, Minnesota on their reel-to-reel tape recorder. The final tracks were recorded at the home of artist Russell Sharron in the woods outside of Randall, Minnesota on a Macintosh computer.
Although it's not a "concept album," Summit Climb nevertheless depicts the journey of a young man and his exploration of the world. Through music he contemplates love and life, gain and loss, life and death, wisdom and foolhardiness.
Presenting this album, as well as other songs from the Collective Unconscious catalog, will be an ensemble featuring strings and horns playing new arrangements of some of the songs.
